The Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele who is popularly known as "Jennifer" has been charged to court for abusing the coronavirus restriction order.

The actress who held a birthday party for her better half had in excess of 20 visitors in participation which is against the social distancing law.


The suspects were captured by agents of Lagos State Police Command following a viral video including countless individuals like Eniola Badmus, Naira Marley, etc. The gathering occurred at a bequest, along Ajah, Ibeju Lekki territory.


Recently, Funke Akindele and JJC Skillz were summoned at Chief Magistrate Court 1 Ogba on one court charge. They were brought to court by the state criminal Investigation Department Yaba drove by Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Alonge.


The duo pleaded guilty for defiling the orders of the Lagos State and Federal Government that express that everybody should remain inside and avoid social gatherings like parties.


The court found them guilty and have charged and sentenced them as follows:

The defendants are to pay a fine of 100,000 each, sentenced to 14 days community service, three hours per day, excluding Saturday and Sunday; each Defender shall visit 10 important public places within Lagos State to educate the public on the consequences of non-compliance with the restriction order; and they must submit the names and phone numbers of every person who attended the party.They shall be placed on isolation by the State Government to determine their COVID-19 status.

The police in an announcement on Monday said that Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley is currently in police custody. As indicated by DSP Elkana, the singer will likewise be charged to court for violating the restriction order.

He further clarified that there is an ongoing investigation that will get the rest of the individual who went to the gathering. 

Morayo Brown, a TVC moderator said in her program "Your View" that Funke Akindele shouldn't have hosted the party that prompted her arrest.

But Nigerians have in turn spoke against the Comedian, a Twitter, Iyalaya, said: “How many times have you spoken against these oppressors you mentioned, Mr table for N5.1m.” Same oppressors that u beg for your show to be successful.#hypocrite.
